While you’ll find that there are many uses for tarps and tents, shelter is a top concern. Between protecting yourself and protecting your items, you need tools that will fight against the elements.  Whether you’re headed into unmarked territory or it comes to you, a durable tarp and tent will give you a leg up at crucial times.

Wondering how this could be? Find out 8 ways tarps and tents can be your savior against the weather and more.

        A Solution to Rain

When you have a garden designed for relaxing in nature, you need to be prepared for when nature isn’t so kind. As we dive into the world of emergency tents and tarps, we must start with the basics. The primary purpose for tarps and tents is to protect from common weather conditions like rain and harsh sunlight.

If you are celebrating an at home event, camping, or even moving equipment at a work site, installing a tarp provides a temporary shelter for any inclement weather that may hit. For this task, tarps and tents are best fit together; tents will give you a safe place for shelter while tarps make for an extra layer of protection, preventing heavy rain from seeping through the tent.

        Camp Out

Don’t just look to the skies when watching out for the weather, as the ground can be a risk factor thanks to the rain. Thankfully, waterproof tarps can protect you and fellow campers from slipping and/or harming themselves on the wet ground. Simply place tarps over the flat land you’ve chosen for your camping spot, and you’ll have a comfortable place to lay back while also protecting yourself from ticks and other pests.

        Temporarily Protect Belongings

Along with protecting people, a tent is a great way to keep your equipment, tools, and supplies safe while you work on your next DIY project. Add a safe haven for your equipment while having it right beside you by building a temporary storage tent. When it comes time for a break, relax in the shade under your tent.

        Stop Leaking

Tarps are a perfect short term answer for a leaky roof. Protect your valuables fast by throwing down waterproof tarps while you search for a permanent solution. Use your tarp as a funnel to pour into a raincatcher, in the form of a barrel, so that you can collect water for your plants. If you can’t stop the leak in time, add another tarp to put over your valuables for added support.

        Provide Barriers

When working outdoors, tarps come in handy as a temporary barrier from high winds. Angled properly, and these tarps will shield you by creating a wall and keeping the draft away. The last thing you want is to have furniture, decor, tools, or a stack of firewood be blown away, leading to damages or loss. Tarps and tents can also be used to wall off hard hat zones in professional settings.

You may have a case of nosy neighbors. snooping in on your private life. If that is the case, tarps can be utilized to keep them away. Hang tarps up as barriers that protect your privacy or your wandering neighbor from potential hazards from your home improvement project. When looking for a custom tarp, consider your project and draw up specific dimensions that will suit your needs.

        Line Your Truck Bed

It’s important to remember, waterproof tarps are perfectly fit for lining a truck bed. They are easy to use protection for delivering or transferring equipment. When properly tied down, a tarp is ready to protect for a full day of driving. It’s important to know that different tarps work best with different workloads.

For example, when transporting concrete or other rugged construction material, a concrete blanket is your best choice for coverage. These tarps are incredibly effective in keeping material warm, especially during the winter. As always, planning goes a long way in protecting you and your equipment.

        Utilize in an Emergency

While there are many common uses for tents and tarps in your day to day, the true potential of these sheltering tools lie in disaster relief. While easy to install, a basic canopy tent will not protect against long-term weather issues. Disaster relief tents are different in that they are made for long durations.

Large relief tents, commonly equipped with sidewalls, will act as a shield while giving its occupants proper seclusion. In emergency situations, these industrial canopy tents will give life-saving assistance to those in need of immediate emergency shelter. This makes disaster relief tents must haves for the professional medic and home disaster prep.

        Tactical Purposes

In the grand scheme of things, the premier use for tents is in mobile operations: creating a base camp for a small organization. For larger-scale groups, one might need canopy tents as well as sets of folding tables, chairs, and much more.

A series of tents will form a base of operations for organizing and managing action while creating spaces to fit all needs for the organization’s operatives. Medical canopies are crucial for any mobile operation, especially those concerned with search and rescue. Tents can be strategically placed to form a grid while focusing extra attention on major distribution centers, triage tents, and other major functions.
